The deduction will be calculated on a maximum ceiling of €8,000 for the year 2023. The deduction will remain available until 2024, but the maximum spending ceiling will be reduced to €5,000 in the next year.

How to Obtain the 2023 Furniture Bonus

This bonus is directly connected to renovation works, consequently the start date of the renovation works must precede the date of purchase of furniture and appliances. However, it is not necessary for the renovation expenses to be actually incurred before the expenses for furnishing the property under renovation.
The 50% deduction will be obtained by indicating the expenses incurred at the time of tax declaration. This will be done by filling out the 730 form, or the Personal Income Tax form of the taxpayer who benefits from the deduction for the expenses of the renovation intervention.

Which Purchases are Included in the Furniture and Appliances Bonus

The Furniture and Appliances Bonus is reserved for the purchase of new furniture and large appliances, of class not lower than A for ovens, E for dishwashers, washing machines and washer-dryers, F for freezers and refrigerators. This applies to large appliances for which energy labeling is required. The bonus is also applicable to appliances without a label, provided that for that type of equipment the label obligation is not yet required. The deduction also includes expenses for transport and assembly of the purchased furniture or appliance.

It’s important to note that the deduction is also available when the purchased goods will be used to furnish an environment other than the one being renovated. However, in case of renovating common areas such as the porter’s apartment or communal laundry rooms, the condominium owners can access the deduction, each directly for their own share, only for goods purchased to furnish the areas being renovated. In this context, you are not entitled to this benefit if you purchase furniture for your private home.
