Mosaic Coverings, a Classic for all Rooms in the House

Interior Design and Architecture

Mosaic is an ideal solution for covering a wall, for furnishing and enhancing environments, from classic to modern ones.

Mosaic is one of the oldest forms of decoration in human history. Its origins are lost in the mists of time, dating back to the time of the Sumerians. It became a classic in Ancient Rome, as evidenced by various archaeological excavations. The villas of Roman patricians were indeed adorned with splendid mosaics. Mosaic has always been recognized as a great element of prestige, an expression of luxury and refinement. Even today, those who are considering home renovation should consider the idea of mosaic covering to enhance their environments.

Contemporary Mosaic

Although the aesthetics of contemporary mosaics are very different from those of ancient ones, this decorative technique remains a guarantee. The geometric structure of mosaic allows for the creation of very refined decorations. In contemporary interior design, one of the rooms where we often see wall mosaics is the bathroom, particularly in the shower or bathtub area. We also frequently see mosaics in the kitchen. However, mosaic is a classic that can be adapted to all other rooms in the house, guaranteeing excellent results in the living room or bedroom as well. There are solutions for all tastes, some with more classic inspiration, others more modern, colorful and vibrant.

Today mosaics are created in different materials and with various techniques. New generation mosaics are very versatile and high-performing. They adapt to any surface, excellently resisting wear over time, heat and humidity. They are commonly made of glass paste, glazed ceramic, marble, stoneware, metal or resin. Usually the tiles are square and measure 1-2 cm per side, with a thickness of 10 mm. Today it is no longer necessary to fix each tile of the covering individually, but practical modules can be used. This means that a mosaic can be created anywhere, quickly and always with maximum precision: in the bedroom, on a bed headboard, or in a corner of the living room.

Mosaic in the Kitchen

Today mosaic tiles excellently resist thermal variations and this makes them an excellent solution for kitchen covering, particularly for the cooking area. A good mosaic is indeed a functional solution, easy to clean. You can opt for a colorful mosaic that contrasts with the surrounding environment, or choose tone-on-tone tiles. These will give refinement and three-dimensionality to the environment. You don’t necessarily have to choose small square tiles, as tiles of every shape exist.

Mosaic in the Living Room

Covering a living room wall with mosaic can be a very refined solution. For example, in an environment with light colors and minimal furnishing, you could opt for a mosaic that recalls the furniture, with small doses of color for a “clouded” effect. The wall will thus gain depth, while remaining subtle, creating rarefied and refined atmospheres. Those who want to be more daring can always opt for contrast, or dark, vintage and refined colors. Or even opt for the splendor of gold, on iridescent or shimmering tiles for high-impact details that illuminate and enhance the entire environment. Obviously in cases like these it is essential to be measured, avoiding overloading the wall excessively, especially if it is a large surface.

Mosaic in the Bedroom

Covering a bedroom wall with mosaic could be a very original solution that will certainly not go unnoticed. Thanks to mosaic, you could indeed create a very sophisticated glossy and pigmented surface in the bedroom. Even the headboard wall could be covered with colored tiles, greatly enhancing the environment.
