When deciding to renovate your home, the renewal of heating systems is an element that requires careful consideration. The choices made in this regard will affect both domestic comfort and utility costs in the years to come. Today, it’s possible to purchase and install stoves and fireplaces, choose underfloor heating, or replace the boiler while taking advantage of bonuses and incentives for heating system renovation. Let’s examine the details.
Tax Bonuses and Incentives for Stoves and Fireplaces
Currently, when purchasing pellet or wood stoves and fireplaces, various tax benefits are available. The key requirement is that the purchased models must be environmentally “sustainable”. The parameters established for the energy efficiency upgrade of a building become fundamental elements for accessing tax incentives.
Stoves and Fireplaces with the 50% Renovation Bonus
When purchasing and installing stoves and fireplaces, you can benefit from the 50% Renovation Bonus until December 31, 2024. The incentive also includes the construction or renovation of the chimney flue, as well as the initial ignition service. It is essential to purchase a fireplace or stove with a five-star environmental certification, or four stars if replacing an existing biomass generator. The work must be carried out by qualified installers who will provide the Declaration of Conformity and update the system documentation, as required by current regulations.
Stoves and Fireplaces with the 50-65% Ecobonus
The installation of a fireplace or stove is also eligible for the Ecobonus. This incentive allows you to recover 50% to 65% of the investment made, depending on the work carried out. A 50% IRPEF deduction is available for those who undertake energy efficiency improvements solely to the heating system, while a 65% deduction is provided for more general building energy efficiency upgrades (not just systems, but also the building envelope).
Tax Bonuses and Incentives for Boiler Replacement
Replacing a boiler can lead to significant savings on bills. Additionally, replacing a boiler with a more efficient unit allows access to various tax incentives.
Currently, among the available bonuses, we find the 50% Ecobonus. This bonus is intended for those who purchase class A or higher condensing boilers. In this case too, it’s essential to ensure better energy performance. The incentive can be requested until December 2024.
The 65% Ecobonus is also available for replacing existing systems with new boilers equipped with advanced thermoregulation or home automation systems. It will be necessary to install condensing boilers that are at least energy class A, along with advanced Class V, Class VI, and Class VIII thermoregulation systems.
Boiler renewal is also included in the 90% Superbonus, if considered as part of a series of interventions that result in an increase of at least two energy efficiency classes for a property unit. Boiler replacement alone cannot achieve the advancement of two energy classes for a property unit.
Boiler renewal can also be deducted at 50% as part of home renovation through the 50% Renovation Bonus. In this case, you can benefit from the deduction without necessarily choosing an advanced thermoregulation system, provided the boiler is certified as at least class A.
It’s important to note that the EU “Green Home” Directive should prohibit tax incentives for installing fossil fuel boilers starting from 2024.
Underfloor Heating with a Radiant System
Installing underfloor heating systems also entitles you to claim tax deductions for renovation. The installation of radiant systems, including floor panels, allows access to the 50% Renovation Bonus, even for partial installation (replacing the emission system but not the generator).
With the new installation of a heating system, you can also access the 65% Ecobonus, provided you obtain technical certification that evaluates the actual energy performance of the property. The products used must comply with national and European regulations. The 50-65% Ecobonus can be requested until December 31, 2024.
The demolition and dismantling work of the flooring will be included in the listed bonuses.
